I’m a wee bit behind with this post – my annual list of favorite purchases that made a difference in my life over this past year! But even though I may be a bit late, I still wanted to document my best buys of 2021, because it gives me a chance to look back on my most loved products of the past year, as well as create a little reference list of my own. Plus, I like to think, it’s packed with cool discoveries and fun finds that I hope you’ll love just as much as I do! One of my ideal times of year to shop is after the holiday off-season sales. That’s when I get to snag choice items I’ve been eyeing all year at the prices I feel a little less guilty parting with. Sure, sometimes the collections are picked over to the bare bones and I sometimes may not be able to find my size in some things, but once in a while, the stars align right for me and I get thrown a bone every now and then that makes my ‘after the holidays’ thrill of the hunt shopping experience all worthwhile!
Over the past couple of years, my style has become drastically more casual than usual. In fact, I’m mostly in cozy loungewear the majority of the time these days, partly due to not going into an outside office, but also due to no longer meeting anyone face to face during these times. I find myself reaching mostly for a pair of denim in my closet on the days I have to run errands… and since I’ve never been much of a denim person, I’m pretty particular about the kind I do wear. Last year, I picked up my three favorite styles of denim, which I’ve been living in – a pair of boyfriend jeans, a wide leg that’s forgiving on days I’m not up to getting dressed but need to because I have to leave the house and a slim straight leg that fits more like a classic pair of slacks when I want to look like I’ve put in a little bit more effort. Right now I’m on the hunt for the perfect pair of black denim jeans (currently have this one in my cart).
Getting out and about more than I’ve been in a very long time this past year made me realize that I need to replace a lot of my favorite blazers and jackets that I normally pair with slacks and jeans. They’re all a little too snug now. Besides, long gone are the days of tailored blazers for me. So Classic and stylish oversized blazers and jackets are what I’m on the hunt for lately. This beloved one was one I had to replace since it no longer fits and is one of my must wardrobe staples. It is a great transitional jacket plus, the details are everything.
Other favorites for me are chic and comfortable ankle boots. I’m not much of a sneakers gal, unless, they have a wedge and Michael Kors has several nice ones that caught my eye in 2021. It’s about time I replace my old pair from seven years ago.
Also, classic and comfortable stylish maxi and slip-on knit dresses are what I’ve been transitioning into more for at least a couple of years now. They sure make getting ready go so much easier. I love how put-together they make you feel in a cinch, too!
I’ve been using silk pillowcases for more than a decade for all their wonderful benefits, like reducing wrinkles, split ends, and frizz. Since I’ve grown accustomed to sleeping on silky pillowcases, again, because they are the path to smoother skin and better hair, I decided to buy some for my travel bags this past year to use on my hotel pillows. Best decision ever!
There are also a few other things that I didn’t get a chance to grab in 2021 that I’d love to get this year, like this necklace and these hoops that I’ve been in the market for a while. They would be such a nice addition to a simple look. For the last several years, I’ve been wanting to get this pizza oven and this is the year to finally take the plunge given these variants seem to be keeping us at home a lot longer than anticipated.
Lastly, two of my ultimate favorite purchases last year are this body oil which my winter skin thanked me for giving it the attention that it deserves, and this wonderful hand soap and lotion set.
