Lady In Red

February 10, 2012

This lovely red dress was a gift to me 14 years ago. I’ve been somewhat revamping my closet attempting to go down to basics. This dress has been warming up the back of my closet in a dry cleaner’s bag for some time now. I love the dress for it’s soft velvety feel to the touch and how it falls on the body. However, I’d like to give it a face lift so it can stay as a ‘part of my downsizing to the basics’ in my closet.

This is what I’m thinking. I’m imagining one way to bring new life to it is by shortening it to a knee length sized dress, making it look more modern and up-to-date. What do you think readers? {yes, that means YOU!} What do you say? Long or short?

I got two looks with this one outfit. You can wear the jacket during chillier parts of the day, and yet still able to change the look simply by taking off the jacket for possibly a later event which will give the outfit a different look.  Adding a vintage bag is also a nice touch for contrast and freshness.

*Look One: I dressed this otherwise girlie formal dress with the leather jacket for an added tough edge – giving it some spice. I always love adding the unexpected to an outfit. Giving it the touch of “DaFashionista” or what others would be apprehensive to do!

No, you’re not seeing things. I did change my earrings. I put on the jacket after the second look but the hubby kept taking more pictures…thus, the mixture. Having a little fun!

*Look Two: I went with the girlie kind of formal look adding femininity and contrast with a vintage bag {another lovely gift. Courtesy of Theresa. Thanks}.

These shoes have been seen a couple of times in my previous “My Style” posts.

Happy Friday! Hope you had a good week

Xo,

Rebecca
