July | End Notes

July 30, 2021

Happy Friday! So far, my July has been full of cautiously taking necessary getaways for sanity’s sake – discovering new favorite places to eat with beautiful outdoor spaces and well-curated pretty shops to re-ignite some of my creative juices and inspiration that have faded away. I have also been re-instilling better habits, like reading in bed again before going to sleep, instead of falling asleep watching tv and letting Sundays be a full day of rest. This means that my Sundays are spent enjoying the simple things such as flipping through my pile of inspirational magazines and just being still. And let me tell you, by just making such little shifts – I can feel it’s slowly bringing in the peaceful calm I desperately need right now. Whenever life starts to feel anything but peaceful, I always recognize it as a nudge to unplug, re-evaluate what’s important and detoxify from what’s not. Best yet, I couldn’t be happier to be ending off the month on a celebratory note as we head out for a low-key local vacation for our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary! Here’s my Venmo account or (find me under @beckabellastyle), in case you’re feeling pretty generous and want to gift us a little something. In the meantime, here’s a roundup of my favorites this month, including what I’m scoring from the Nordstrom anniversary sale.

PERFECT SUMMER DRESSES

I’ve been pretty much over wearing pants, so my curation for the perfect breezy dresses with lovely silhouettes will continue to be my goal until my wardrobe is filled with every single piece that I love – making this shirred silhouette shirtdress with puff sleeves perfect! It can even be dressed up for a summer wedding.

STEM CELL SERUM HUNT

During my last local vacation, I treated myself to my second professional facial ever and the esthetician recommended I use stem cell serum to help rejuvenate my skin and also to help with my dark pigmentation problem around my mouth. I thought I’d give this one a try since theirs was exorbitantly expensive, and I’ve heard good things about this one, even from the La Mer cult users.

DECORATIVE CROSS BASE BOWL

I’m always into a piece that elevates ordinary things to a higher level, and this nice looking terracotta bowl with its neat cross base design is one of those items that I’m looking to display my fruits/citrus in on my kitchen counter.

ANTI-ALLERGEN SILK PILLOWCASES

Before this pandemic, I always traveled with my own cleaning arsenal to sanitize and disinfect hotel rooms, and also bringing along my own anti-bacterial/allergen silk pillowcases with zippers to encase hotel pillows after disinfecting them. Now, given these pandemic times, I’m thinking of bringing my own cozy duvet cover to ensure better protection. That way, I can have all their sheets contained inside my own duvet with the closure at the foot of the bed, so when we toss and turn in the middle of the night, no fibers are flying all over into our noses and mouths from the hotel’s sheets. We’ve traveled the world without having any issues following my sanitary protocols. Definitely not going to be lax now.

INTIMATE SLEEPWEAR

I truly believe a well-chosen super fun set of luxe delicate intimates to slip into at the end of the day, works wonders to boost confidence towards your body image. That’s why a long time ago, I made a pact with myself to get rid of any sleepwear as soon as they start looking drab and dingy.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC

We love playing music around here- from the scratchy sound of our records on the record player to our favorite playlists on Spotify, there’s always music playing in the background! We’re super excited to have a couple of Bose speakers mounted on the backyard patio. I can’t wait for the weather to cool down a bit so we can spend our mornings and late afternoons listening to our favorite speakeasy jazz out there.

SCULPTURE STYLE

There’s nothing that adds more interest in a space than a beautiful sculptural piece. I, especially love This unique Eva bust. It’s one of those pieces that’ll prompt people to ask: ‘where did you get that?’ I often get those questions when people come over to our house. I guess I should say, ‘when we used to have guests’. This piece definitely fits our space and makes you feel like a well-traveled socialite or art/oddities collector.
