Dos Caminos Signature Margarita

December 11, 2012

Remember I said that one of my favorite places I like to hang out in Soho is Dos Caminos; not only for the ambience, but for their well-known signature guacamole and great tasting cadillac margaritas. Here’s the recipe I promised to post.  I’ve been making this one for a couple of years now…and quite often I might add.  When you mix this cocktail at your soirees, it will have your friends thinking that you’re an amazing mixologist.

First off, the secret to making their great tasting margaritas is the use of a basic fruit mix.

Ingredients

*Basic fruit mix

1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice

1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

1/2 cup simple syrup

*Simple syrup

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

*Margarita

1 ounce fruit mix {above}

1 1/2 ounces tequila

1/2 ounce Triple Sec

Kosher or coarse salt, to rim the glass

1 lime, cut into wedges

Directions {for margarita}

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

Add the fruit mix, Tequila, Triple Sec, and a dash of salt {which is key}

Close shaker and shake vigorously about 20 times.

To rim a glass with salt, pour about 1/4 inch of salt into a small, flat dish. Run lime wedge around the outside top of the glass. Invert the glass into the salt.

Pour over fresh ice.

Directions {For simple syrup}

In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Bring to a gentle boil and stir until the sugar has completely dissolved. Turn off heat and refrigerate until cool.

Enjoy!
