I love this quote that I read recently that says:
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to
make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
I’ve always been my happiest without excess material possessions but at the same time not settling for mediocrity. No, it’s not called being a perfectionist. It is having a sharpened sense of excellence, refusing to settle for less. To me, luxury is living a simple uncomplicated life, so anything or anyone that jeopardizes that gets eliminated. There’s nothing more liberating than to be able to know yourself well enough to realize that anything you possess that doesn’t enhance your life must not be allowed to drain your time and energy. That’s not perfectionism – it’s called having reasonable expectations.
“There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.” ~Nelson Mandela
