I really liked the nude color and the femininity of Kaley Cuoco’s Zahair Murad gown. Hayden Panettiere definitely looked amazing in the mermaid Roberto Cavalli gown – so pretty. I was loving Julianne Hough’s Monique Lhuillier gown’s bodice…I just wish it continued as a floor-length straight gown. It would have been hands down my ultimate favorite gown of the evening on that red carpet…just without all the poof.
This post was supposed to be published yesterday, but this is the first moment that I’ve had to get to my computer to write about these amazing gowns. So let’s get right to it. How many of you ladies were enthralled at those beautiful, feminine red carpet mesh gowns at this year’s golden globe awards? For some reason, I feel it was a much classier, feminine selection compared with the previous years. For the most part, I have never been one to get overly excited or inspired by a lot of the gowns that are usually show-cased on the red carpet simply because either I feel they’re too unrealistic, or overly revealing. That said however, I was pleasantly surprised and was very much inspired by the gowns most of the ladies opted for this time around and I was mostly attracted to the array of all the mesh and metallic overlays that were featured. I really felt like…’oh, this is a gown that normal people like me could/would wear to an event.’
I’m such a sucker for mermaid style dresses. Until now, I kick myself that I didn’t go with a mermaid dress for my wedding, but they weren’t as popular back then as they are now. Anyway, let me stop gabbing as I’m getting really tired (it is now very late) and just share my curated list of my favorite gown picks with you.
Jennifer Lawrence whom I’ve never heard of before until that night certainly looked absolutely beautiful in the red Dior Haute Couture gown. In my opinion, Amy Adams doesn’t need much for she’s naturally beautiful, her Marchesa gown was just an added bonus to her gorgeous look from the hair right down to that glamorous gown. Being a queen of accessorizing, I was drawn to Jessica Alba’s choice of accessories, which to me I felt enhanced the peachy Christian Dior gown.
JLO on the other hand, never fails to capture everyone’s attention on the red carpet – a girl after my own heart. She is and always will be my favorite. Her Zuhair Murad gown was amazingly stunning…perfection! I have to say, I was pleased with Helen Hunt’s Dolce & Gabbana tulle gown choice, because I liked the fact that she took a risk wearing such a sexy gown, while the beaded column with the rose satin underlay definitely made her look tastefully SEXY!
I definitely think Kate Hudson made an appropriate gown choice with an Alexander McQueen gown, for it definitely captured her classy persona. Now, it was nice to see Jodi Foster on the red carpet. It’s been a minute since she’s been on that scene, and I was really surprised with her gown choice as she comes across to be very coy, so I have to say I was very happy to see her shimmering in that lovely Armani gown. Emily Deschanel is another one I’ve not heard of (nooo, I don’t live under a rock, I just don’t watch much TV and kind of stopped going to the movies after the Colorado shooting in the movie theatre). I liked how the metallic embellishments on the shoulders of Emily Deschanel’s Badgley Mischka dress made a gown that would have otherwise looked plain… classically elegant.
Now these are the gowns that I felt were a little overly sexy with the unnecessary “Angelina Jolie” super high slits for my conservative/modest taste. I’m sure the designers had drama and sexy in mind which they definitely achieved. That said, it doesn’t mean that I didn’t like them, that’s why they’re part of my ultimate favorites list. I was just making a statement. However, I definitely feel that these ladies ‘brought sexy back.’ First with Lea Michele (another unfamiliar name to me) in Elie Saab looked absolutely stunning. Halle Berry couldn’t have made a better choice I feel wearing Versace Atelier – purely sexy, and last but not least, Heidi Klum sparkled in Alexandre Vauthier like a flickering star! Also, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Anne Hathaway’s simplistic look in Chanel – sometimes less is more and in her case I felt her new do/flawless look made her shine as a classic beauty.
I’m curious to see if you thought the same. Feel free to share who your favorites were by commenting below.

I love these gowns, as well. I also like the metallic look and mesh. Julia-Louis Dreyfus had a great mesh gown (at least I think it was). Wearing a gown to the Oscars is now on my Bucket List!
