LIFE VIEWED THROUGH MIRROR COLORED CAT EYE SUNGLASSES

Confession: In my sophomore year in high school, I don’t know what got over me, but I suddenly had this urge to wear glasses because I thought it would make me look smart, cool, and more attractive. Hence, I somehow got myself a fake pair. Don’t ask me where I acquired said pair nor do I know how I even had the cash to obtain it, but I remember wearing it whenever I stepped outside my house. What’s even crazier, I used to squint (even though I had 20/20 vision) pretending not to be able to see when I took them off around my friends. [Giggles] It sounds so foolish as I write this. But, it was also the era of Lisa Loeb who made wearing glasses look so sophisticated at the time – not to mention she also had one of the best hit single songs that I loved back then. I can definitely say she influenced my sudden urge for glasses.

Now fast forward decades later where I began to find myself slowly but surely starting to squint for real in order to see clearer, which I’m going to blame on spending hours of reading and cross-stitching until the wee hours of the morning under very dim-lit lighting. You know how when you’re young you don’t think that you’ll ever get old? Well in my case, I never thought I’d ever in a million years have to wear glasses because I had eagle’s vision for so long. But as life would have it no other way, eventually, I was obliged to face the reality of needing eyeglasses. Even though my diagnosis was prefaced with a “you only need a very light prescription,” I still felt bummed knowing that I really had to wear them. After relinquishing to the reality of it all, naturally, there were certain criteria that had to be met in picking out a pair. They had to be stylish, meaning they couldn’t look as obvious as Urkel’s glasses – not that there’s anything wrong with his fine fashion sense;-) but you know… and would have to be a pair that is classic, yet on-trend, and cool enough to want to wear regularly.

At the beginning of the year when the hubby and I decided to go get our eyes checked and update our glasses (for it had been over seven years since our last visit), they asked me if I also wanted a pair of prescription sunglasses as well, to which I was game since they had a cool pair that I really liked. While I see fine when driving with my regular non-prescription sunglasses, I have to say using my Rx ones do help me see the signs much clearer. So when GlassesShop.com reached out with an opportunity to collaborate, I didn’t want to pass it up.

I’m obsessed with sunglasses just as I am with shoes. I have more pairs than I can count and not once do I ever think I have too many. So suffice to say, I immediately began clicking through their glasses selections and was excited when I saw many of the styles tick off the criteria that a pair must-have for me to wear them. And since I have been wanting a much trendier second pair of prescription sunglasses, I was more than happy to give them a try. Within minutes perusing through their glasses online, I instantly fell in love with the cat-eye white yellow-mirror coating that I’m wearing in this post for many obvious reasons: 1) They are a statement piece and I’m all about great statement accessories, 2) the shape and style of them look extremely cool, 3) I love me a mirror coating pair of sunnies, as there’s no eye contact whatsoever – very ‘movie star-ish’, 4) they add a distinctively sophisticated touch to any plain outfit, and 5) the combination of the white and gold frame tapered arm with the silver triangle detail on the tip is oh, so chic! Beauty is all in the details. Opting for a prescription pair in these was a no brainer. In fact, this pair was so enticing, it took me out of my sabbatical for a quick minute to write this post.

Once I decided on the pair I wanted, all I had to do was send in my updated lens prescription via email to them and voila! my pair of glasses arrived in the mail in a little over a week. They are even more beautiful in person. I was pleased that although they are inexpensive, they do not feel it. They have a little weight to them, but not too heavy that they leave an indention on your nose or slide off your face nor are they too tight on the sides (and my face is much rounder lately than usual), yet they fit perfectly. They came well packaged in a clear case with a felt piece on the bottom interior to protect the glasses and includes a cleaning cloth. Definitely a good value for the price. I can tell you right now, these new cat-eye sunnies are my latest practical (and affordable) new accessory favorite.

The only con (and it’s a really small con) is, although the clear plastic carrying case it came in is a very sturdy one, I just wish it was of a better quality or at least came in a pastel pink or white case to match the frames. Other than that,I would definitely buy another pair from this seller.
