A Gift In A Bottle

February 15, 2013

A couple of Friday’s ago before our business trip, a girlfriend invited me over her home for a “girl’s night” out.  Instead of bringing the typical bouquet of flowers or pastries, I wanted to bring something much more personalized, so I chose  to make one of my favorite drinks -a special mulled wine that I learned how to prepare while at a wine tasting in Santa Barbara about 3 – 4 years ago (the recipe will be posted at a later date…so stay tuned). This gift in a bottle is such a simple gesture and can be used for any occasion as a special thank you that can be remembered for a long time.

  1.  A clear bottle with hermetic closure  mine was an old sparkling lemonade bottle that I’ve had in my pantry.   I cleaned it out really well and let dry completely.
  2. Pretty craft paper of your choice to wrap a band around the bottle using a dab of glue on the seams to hold the paper in place.
  3. Craft glue
  4. Colored twine to wrap around the bottle for a finishing touch
  5. Your personal thank you and/or message note (on card stock) cut into any shape of your choosing using decorative edge scissors.

And Voila!

Happy gift giving!
